Governor proposes slight increase in court system funding.

While Gov. Jeb Bush proposes only a modest 1.5-percent increase in State Court System funding, his executive budget calls for hiring more assistant state attorneys and public defenders and provides funds to establish a base staff for drug courts in all 20 circuits.

Bush released his 2000-01 fiscal plan last month. The legislature was considering the budget in committees as this News went to press.
