Board of Bar Examiners has openings for public members.

Members of the public are invited to volunteer on or before June 14 for a three-year term on the Florida Board of Board Examiners.

The Supreme Court of Florida will appoint two public members to serve on the board, which ensures that applicants have met the requirements of the rules with regard to character and fitness, education and technical competence prior to recommending to the Supreme Court an applicant's admission to the Bar.

A public member volunteer should possess education or work-related experience such as educational testing, accounting, statistical analysis, medicine, psychology, or related sciences. A bachelor's degree is required. Lawyers are not eligible. Public board members should be willing and able to devote about three days' work a month. Service requires travel to various Florida locations to attend board meetings and the examination, with travel and subsistence expenses reimbursed.

Board members should be interested in seeking to improve the examination and its administration, and to evaluate carefully the character and fitness of applicants seeking admission to the Bar. Board members should be free of adverse interests, conflicting...
