Diversity.

I find myself impatient with all of this "diversity" coverage.

Please define your "diversity."

If you look up the origin of "race" you will find it is based on flawed "science"--there is no marker for race in the human body--an autopsy will not reveal the race of the individual. Culture may be delineated, but not race, scientifically.

I myself have had DNA testing done, and my DNA goes back to Africa and then on through the Middle East and Europe to Ireland and England. I look very Irish, especially when I am walking the streets of Dublin.

In our circuit, I see that there was really no "diversity" in gender when the most recent list of names went to the governor from the 10th Circuit. I don't know the self-identified race of the individuals whose names were submitted, but the governor cannot engage in diverse appointments if only one gender is put forward for consideration.

I identify myself as belonging to the "human race" and you will not find me identifying myself as any other "race." When a client told me she was the victim of "racism," I asked her what race she identifies herself as. I did not presume to know, based upon physical characteristics.

Yet, The Florida Bar devotes much time and consideration to this flawed science. Perhaps, issues of gender and age discrimination would be a better focus.
