Filing for board seats to begin.

Filing to be Florida Bar president-elect for 2005-06 opens November 15 and qualifying petitions must be filed by 5 p.m. on December 15. Member also may now file petitions for Board of Governors seats for the 2005-07 term.

President-elect candidates must be active members in good standing, and must submit a nominating petition signed by not fewer than 1 percent of the members of the Bar in good standing, which as this News went to press, is 750 Bar members. Other than gathering signatures, active campaigning for the position is prohibited prior to November 15.

Candidates for president-elect will be announced in the January 1, 2005, Bar News. If the race is contested, ballots will be mailed by March 1 and must be returned to the Bar's election company by midnight March 21. Any contested Board of Governors' seats will be included on the ballot.
