Judicial Retirement Age.

The retirement age of judges should be done away with.

The issue is not what is good for lawyers, i.e., having current judges retire at 70, thus, making room for new ones to take their place. The issue is what's best for the state.

There is a reason why since time immemorial societies/tribes have been governed by elders. They have more wisdom and experience. Besides that, 70 is now the new 60 with the advances that have been made in medicine and lifestyle.

The federal courts, which have no such deadline, function perfectly fine as far as I am aware. Recently, I read about a judge from the Eastern District of New York, who is 96 years old, who said that other than not remembering names, he considers himself more compassionate and does a better job than when he was younger. Of course, there must be ways to remove a judge when he or she becomes unfit to hold office as there are in the federal courts.
