Lawyer Veterans.

It's about time that Florida lawyers who are also veterans got more than a "Thank you for your service!"

The 2018 Legislature amended F.S. [section]205.055, the Local Business Tax Receipt law (formerly the occupational license tax), to provide that honorably discharged veterans or the spouse or unremarried surviving spouses of such veterans are exempt from any business tax and fees under the chapter, effective July 1. No disability or income requirement.

The law also exempts any business organization with less than 100 employees where the veteran holds a majority interest in that business.
