Middle District seeks Ocala magistrate.

The U.S. District Court for the Middle District is accepting applications to fill a magistrate judge position in Ocala.

Applicants must have been a member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and have been engaged in the active practice of law for at least five years.

Applicants also must be less than 70 years old and cannot be related to a judge of the district court.

The court, will make the appointment following an FBI investigation and an IRS tax check of the appointee. The salary of the position is $126,764 per annum and the term is for eight years.

Applications for the position may be obtained at the intake counters of the clerk's offices in Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Ft. Myers and Ocala.
