Changes need to be made to reduce the number of emails generated by the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal.

The Federal PACER system accomplishes the same task with a single email per filing. The Florida system sends a minimum of three--(1) received, (2) accepted, and (3) service. If a filing is put into review, a single filing can generate five or more emails. As a litigator, I often file multiple documents per day. On my busiest days, the e-filing portal generates a flood of unnecessary emails.

The default should be that no emails regarding status are generated unless there is a problem with the filing. To the extent status emails are necessary, they should be minimized. In the frequent cases where receipt...
