Same-sex divorce.

"Much ado about nothing." This was my realization this morning as I considered writing a letter about the Family Law Section filing an amicus brief favoring the right of a lesbian couple to get a divorce in Florida.

As I pondered the matter, I read my Fort Worth Star-Telegram paper for the day and saw that a federal district judge in Florida had just ruled that the Florida Constitution's prohibition of homosexual marriage violated the United States Constitution.

SCOTUS should promptly take one of the dozens of cases pending on this subject and put this issue to rest.

Personally, I think the Florida Constitution has it right. Reason being, I think it is not SCOTUS's prerogative to decide what "marriage" is. People only...
