Time marches on.

My wife and I saw the ancient Roman forum a few months ago. I looked upon what once were the stores and the Senate and the official residences and the archives and the prison and the rostra or platform from which politicians gave their speeches to the citizens. Who but the specialized scholar and the knowledgeable tourist knows what the merchants and the lawyers and the politicians and the people who congregated there said or did? Or cares?

Sic transit gloria mundi.

I know I am waxing philosophical, but my point is that all of us need balance and perspective.
