Vanderplas wins Simon Pro Bono Service Award.

Chief Justice Barbara Pariente called James M. Vanderplas' pro bone work "truly remarkable" at a ceremony held April 7 in Tallahassee, at which he was awarded the Tobias Simon Pro Bone Service Award for 2005. But to hear Vanderplas tell it, he plays only a small role along with a great many attorneys who unselfishly donate their time and effort to helping those who are most in need of legal assistance.

"I am only one among perhaps thousands of others who give equally, generously of their time and talent," Vanderplas said.
