YLD wins Gambrell professionalism award.

The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division won the 2000 E. Smythe Gambrell Professionalism Award presented by the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Professionalism.

The award, which included $3,500, recognized the YLD's Practicing with Professionalism program, a two-day Supreme Court-mandated program for all newly admitted lawyers to The Florida Bar.

The second day of the new lawyer training is dedicated to professionalism and provides specific, substantive and interactive training in areas that have been identified as likely to become problems for new lawyers.

The hope is that the program will help guide new lawyers through potential pitfalls of the profession and reduce lawyer disciplinary action, public complaints of unprofessional behavior, and ultimately enhance the perception of the legal profession as a whole.
